Can I get my brows tattooed after the COVID-19 Vaccination?

The Covid-19 vaccination may temporarily compromise your immune system in the days/week following administration (common symptoms include headaches, fevers and chills). For your safety, we require any cosmetic tattoo procedures to be booked at least 2 weeks before and after having the vaccine. Please consider the above when booking your next cosmetic tattoo appointment and reschedule where necessary.

 

What are Ombré brows?

AKA powder brows. Involves a semi-permanent make up procedure using the tattoo shading technique whereby pigment is inserted into the very top layers of the skin.  As the name suggests, the brows are darker at the tails and the shading fades out towards the front of the brows. Once healed, the brows mimic a soft powdered make up look (as opposed to a block tattoo look).

 

What's the difference between Ombré Powder and Microblading?

Whilst both are forms of eyebrow tattooing, Ombre brows uses a tattoo machine to implant pigment in the form of pixels/dots into the skin to give a powdery shaded appearance whereas Microblading (aka feathering) uses a blade to make small incisions into the skin to give the appearance of hair strokes.

Is Ombré more suitable than microblading?

Ombre brows is suitable for all skin types (dry, oily and combination) whereas Microblading is only suitable for dry skin types (oily skin often has poor retention with microblading and the strokes end up looking blurry and blocky). If you have oily skin, you will likely get far nicer healed results with ombré shading than with microblading.

Who can't get cosmetic tattooing done?

Please refer to the list under "Info" > "Tattoo Requirements" to determine if you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattooing.

Can I get Ombré brows if I have an existing brow tattoo done elsewhere?

This will depend on how faded your current brow tattoos are and it determined on a case by case basis. In general, your existing brow tattoo should be faded at least 70% to be considered. Prior to booking, you will need to send us a photo of your brows for assessment and approval. If your current brows are too dark, we may recommend a few sessions of saline removal to lighten them up. Cover-up brows will be considered a new set of brows, not a touch up.

Does cosmetic tattooing hurt?

At SKIM Boutique, the clients comfort and safety is our main priority. For most people, the pain level during tattooing is minimal to none. A topical numbing cream is applied prior to shading and an additional numbing gel can be applied during the procedure if the client is sensitive. Unlike traditional body tattoos, powder shading inserts pigment only to the very top layers of skin, hence why it is semi-permanent.

How long will my Ombré brows last?

Ombré brows are semi-permanent and continue to fade over time. They last around 1-3 years depending on the individual's skin and lifestyle. E.g. oily skin types tend to fade faster than dry, sun exposure can result in premature fading and the use of certain skincare products (e.g Retinol, exfoliants, glycolic acid) can fade them faster. Touch ups are recommended every 1-2 years.

How long will my brow tattoo take to heal?

This varies based on the individual but on average takes around 10 days for the brows to heal (i.e. the scabbing and flaking to finish). It can also take up to 42 days for the pigment to develop in the skin and the final colour to show.

Are eyelash extensions safe for your natural lashes?

Lash health and safety is a priority at our salon. Each set is customised to the individual with careful consideration of the weight of the extensions on each natural lash. This means we do not apply extensions that are too long or heavy for the natural lash that it is being applied to. We also ensure our application is never rushed, to avoid multiple lashes being stuck to each other which can cause irritation and damage.  We use the lightest and softest extensions available on the market. Premium Lash Box LA products are used in all our lash sets.

I have lashes applied at another salon. Can you infill them?

Unfortunately we do not infill lashes applied at another salon. You will need to book in for a removal and full set. This is to ensure all our lash sets are at our highest level of standards.

How is Mega volume different to other volume last extensions?

Mega volume uses only the lightest and softest lashes on the market which is only 0.03mm in diameter (other volume sets use 0.05-0.10mm lashes which are heavier). This allows us to apply up to 20 extensions to each natural eyelash WITHOUT damage. Mega volume is super versatile as we can achieve a softer, natural volume look or a thick and dark volume look.
